About Sinéad Lyons

I’m Sinéad Lyons, a counsellor and therapeutic coach based at Cherry Tree Therapy Centre in Buckhurst Hill.
I’m a member of the BACP and hold a Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Coaching. I also have a Postgraduate Certificate in Counselling and Intercultural Counselling, as well as a Diploma in Life Coaching.
My wider training includes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, CBT, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, anxiety management and menopause-informed practice. I have also trained in bereavement, addiction, neurodiversity and the mind-body connection.
My approach is integrative. This means we can draw on different ways of working, depending on what feels right for you.
We may explore past experiences, current patterns and how your thoughts, feelings and behaviour connect. We can also look at practical ways to help you make sense of what is happening and work out what comes next.
Why I became a counsellor and therapeutic coach
Before training as a counsellor, I spent 28 years working in healthcare. That experience shaped the way I work today. Feeling heard matters. So does trust. You need space to speak openly, feel at ease and know you will not be judged.
My own coaching experience also had a strong impact on me. Coaching helped me step back, work out what I wanted from the next stage of life, and find it in myself to make a significant change.
That is one reason my work brings together [integrative counselling] and [coaching and new direction].
What working with me feels like
I want counselling to feel calm, honest and useful. I sometimes describe the process as getting a new pair of glasses. The situation may still be there, but you can begin to see it differently.
I will listen without judgement. I may also gently challenge you when a different question could help you see something more clearly.
The aim is to give you space to think, reflect and understand yourself more clearly.

My practice in Buckhurst Hill
I work face-to-face from Cherry Tree Therapy Centre in Buckhurst Hill.
Sessions last 50 minutes and cost £60. I currently offer appointments between 8am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. A limited number of concessionary places are also available.
You do not need to arrive knowing exactly what is wrong or what you want to change. We can start with what is happening now and work from there.
Some people come for a handful of sessions. Others choose to continue for longer. There is no set length of therapy. We can work at a pace which suits you.
Ready to start a conversation?
You do not need to know exactly what you need or what you want to say before getting in touch. If something doesn’t feel right, or you are wondering whether counselling or coaching could help, please contact me, and we can take it from there.
