Sinéad Lyons, Counsellor & Life Coach
I’m Sinéad Lyons, a Counsellor & Life Coach in Buckhurst Hill, Essex.
Life can change in ways you expect and in ways you do not. You may know what has changed, or nothing obvious has happened, and something still feels off.
You may feel stuck, overwhelmed or unsure what needs to change. You may know you want something to be different but not know where to start.
Counselling can give you space to understand what is happening now. Coaching can help you look ahead and explore what comes next.
Where we start will depend on what is happening for you now. The following areas will give you a sense of how I can help.

How I Can Help
Integrative Counselling
My integrative counselling approach lets us draw on different types of therapy, depending on what you need. We can look at thoughts, feelings, past experiences and patterns which may be affecting you now.
Some sessions can focus on understanding what has brought you here. Others can focus on practical ways to manage what is happening now.
We shape the approach around you, rather than asking you to fit the therapy.
Coaching & New Direction
You may know something needs to change without knowing what the answer is.
Perhaps your routine no longer fits. A role which once felt right may not feel right now. You may keep thinking about making a change, yet every option brings another question.
Coaching gives you space to stop circling the same thoughts. We can look at what matters to you now, what may be getting in the way and what a realistic next step could look like.
You do not need a five-year plan. The first step may be getting clear on what you no longer want.
Redundancy & Career Change
Redundancy can take away more than a salary.
Work gives structure. A role can become part of how you see yourself. When work changes, your routine, sense of purpose and direction can change with it.
A career change can bring similar questions. You may be wondering whether to return to the same kind of work, try something different or leave behind a career which no longer fits.
Counselling and coaching can give you space to process what has happened and think about what you want next in your working life.
Burnout & Work Stress Counselling
When work follows you home, switching off can feel impossible.
Your mind may keep going long after work ends. You may feel drained or overwhelmed, and even time away may not feel like enough.
Burnout can build over time. Motivation can drop. Decisions can feel harder. You may have less energy left for life outside work.
Counselling gives you space to look at what is creating the pressure. From there, we can explore what needs attention and what may need to change.
Anxiety Counselling
Anxiety can make everyday life feel harder.
Small decisions can feel bigger. You may replay conversations, worry about what might happen next or find it hard to switch off.
You may also feel frustrated with yourself for not coping as you used to.
Counselling gives you time to understand what may be driving the worry instead of only trying to push the feeling away.
We can look at patterns, thoughts and situations which may be adding to the pressure. We can also explore practical ways to manage worry and make daily life feel more manageable.
Midlife Counselling for Men
Midlife can bring changes you did not expect.
Work may feel different. Retirement may be getting closer. Children may need you less. A relationship may be changing.
The roles which once gave your life structure can start to shift. This can leave you asking questions you didn’t expect to ask.
Midlife counselling gives you space to look at identity, work, relationships and what you want from the next stage of life.
Midlife Counselling for Women
Midlife can bring several changes at once.
Children may leave home. Relationships can shift. Work may feel different. At the same time, perimenopause or menopause may be affecting how you feel.
It is not always easy to know what belongs to perimenopause, what belongs to menopause and what is linked to everything else happening around you.
You may not feel like yourself. Confidence can change. You may be unsure who you are now or what comes next.
Midlife counselling gives you room to make sense of those changes without reducing everything to hormones.

About Sinéad Lyons
Before becoming a therapist, I spent 28 years working in healthcare.
Later, coaching helped me step back, work out what I wanted from the next stage of life and make a major career change. That experience helped shape the way I work today.
As a Counsellor & Life Coach in Buckhurst Hill, I bring counselling and coaching together when useful.
My approach is warm, open and grounded. I will listen without judgement, but our work does not have to stop at listening. At times, a gentle challenge can help you see something from another angle.
My training also includes menopause-informed practice and CBT training with the British Menopause Society.
