Anxiety Counselling
If you feel exhausted, overwhelmed or unable to switch off, anxiety counselling can help you make sense of how you’re feeling.
I’m Sinéad Lyons, a qualified counsellor and therapeutic coach offering anxiety counselling in Buckhurst Hill. I provide a calm, welcoming space to explore your worries, understand what’s behind your stress and find practical ways to feel calmer and move forward.
You don’t need to have all the answers before seeking support. We can start with what’s troubling you most and work together to find greater clarity, at your pace.
When you’re coping on the outside but struggling inside
You’ve finished work, but your mind is still going.
You’re replaying conversations, thinking about tomorrow or worrying about things you can’t control. Even when you have time to rest, you struggle to enjoy it.
On the outside, you’re keeping up with work and everyday life. Inside, you’re exhausted, overwhelmed and wondering why everything feels so hard.
Does any of this sound familiar?
- You wake up tired and struggle to face the day
- You can’t switch off, even when there’s nothing left to do
- Everyday decisions are becoming harder to make
- You’re frustrated with yourself for not coping as you used to
- You spend your free time worrying about work or the future
Anxiety counselling gives you space to understand what’s happening, make sense of your worries and find ways to move forward.
How anxiety counselling can help you
You might have spent months trying to work things out on your own. You’ve talked to friends, searched for answers or told yourself you should be able to cope. Yet the same worries keep coming back.
My approach to anxiety counselling starts with understanding what you’re going through. We’ll explore your worries, look at patterns which may be keeping you stuck and find practical ways to move forward.
Together, we can work towards:
- Recognising patterns which may be adding to your stress
- Finding practical ways to manage worry and overwhelm
- Gaining clarity and confidence when making decisions
- Understanding what you need and finding a way forward
My training in anxiety management and integrative counselling allows me to draw on different approaches to suit your needs.
Understanding what’s behind your anxiety and stress
Sometimes you know exactly what’s making you anxious. Other times, you can’t put your finger on it.
Work might be getting harder to manage. You may be facing challenges at home, feeling uncertain about your future or struggling with expectations you’ve placed on yourself.
Perhaps you’ve spent years coping with everything. Now you’re feeling overwhelmed, struggling to make decisions and wondering why life feels so hard.
Our work can help you:
- Explore the pressures affecting your daily life
- Understand how work, relationships and everyday demands affect your wellbeing
- Recognise when you’re feeling overwhelmed or taking on too much
- Make sense of worries about your future
- Gain clarity about the changes you may need
If work is becoming the main source of your stress, burnout and work stress counselling can help you explore the pressures you’re facing.
A practical approach shaped around you
Talking about your worries can help you understand them. Finding ways to manage them outside the counselling room is just as important.
I combine counselling and coaching to help you understand your experiences, gain clarity and explore what you want to change.
My approach draws on several forms of therapy, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy.
Depending on your needs, our sessions may involve:
- Exploring how your thoughts, feelings and actions affect each other
- Understanding patterns linked to past experiences
- Finding practical tools to manage difficult thoughts and feelings
- Exploring the connection between your mind and body
- Identifying your priorities and the changes you want to make
There’s no single approach which works for everyone. Your anxiety therapy will reflect your concerns, your goals and what you need as our work develops.
If your worries are linked to feeling stuck or unsure about your future, we can also explore coaching and a new direction.
Understanding how you got here is important. So is finding a way forward.
You don’t need to reach a breaking point
Perhaps you’re wondering whether your problems are serious enough for counselling.
You might still be going to work, looking after your family and managing your responsibilities. Yet you’re finding less time and energy for yourself.
You don’t need a major crisis to seek support.
It’s okay to ask for help when:
- You’re managing everyday life, but it feels harder than it used to
- You’re exhausted from trying to keep everything going
- You spend so much time looking after others that your own needs come last
- Your worries are taking up more of your time and energy
- You feel stuck or uncertain, even if you can’t explain why
If you’re unsure what’s wrong, we can start with how you’re feeling now.
What to expect from counselling with me
Starting counselling can feel daunting, especially when you’re used to handling problems on your own.
You might worry about what to say, whether you’ll be judged or how long therapy will take. You don’t need to know what to say before your first session.
I offer face-to-face anxiety counselling in Buckhurst Hill, with a warm, open and honest approach.
During our sessions, you can expect:
- A calm, welcoming space to talk openly about your concerns
- Time to explore your feelings and understand what’s troubling you
- Honest conversations and gentle challenges
- Support shaped around your needs and goals
I bring 28 years of healthcare experience to my work, alongside my counselling and coaching training. I’ll listen, but I won’t just nod along. I’ll help you look at your experiences from different angles and consider what might help you move forward.
Sessions last 50 minutes and cost £60. A limited number of concessions are available.
Some people come for a handful of sessions. Others prefer longer-term support. We can discuss what feels right for you.
